Megan Wood
Megan's practice is primarily focused on Indigenous child welfare. She also has experience in the areas of human rights, family law, and wills and estates.
Megan graduated from Lakehead University with First Class Standing majoring in Political Science with minors in English and Psychology. She pursued her legal education at the Bora Laskin Faculty Law in Thunder Bay to remain in her hometown. Throughout her studies, Megan dedicated time to the school community and provided mentorship to other students.
She completed her practice placement with Ms. Paquette and was inspired by her commitment to her clients and to lifelong learning.
Megan was called to the Ontario Bar in August of 2021. Shortly thereafter, she was hired by an indigenous non-profit organization where she had the opportunity to be their first Staff Lawyer in their renewed Legal Aid program. She provided summary legal advice to Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) members and brings considerable background and knowledge relating to Indigenous issues involving children and youth. Megan is committed to further developing a practice in child welfare that is focused on client needs and positive results.
In her free time, she enjoys playing cards, kayaking (…on calm waters), and spending time with her dogs in nature.
